April Fools’ Day Dish: The Best Spaghettieis (Ice Cream “Spaghetti”)

Looking for a fun way to surprise your family and friends? Then look no further than this ice cream dish–which can be initially passed off as spaghetti! Spagettieis (the technical name) originated in Germany as an ice cream dish made to look like a plate of spaghetti. Use a potato ricer (I purchased mine from Amazon) to give the ice cream the appearance of spaghetti, top with strawberry sauce (“marinara sauce…or gravy?!”), and Mini Bite brownies (“meatballs”)….even if your friends and family aren’t fooled, they will be impressed!

Ingredients

  • ½ gallon of vanilla ice cream

  • 1 cup strawberry sundae topping

  • 4 brownie bites ( I used Entenmann’s brownie bites), rolled into “meatballs”

  • white chocolate bar

Directions:

  1. Thaw the ice cream at room temperature until it is soft to the touch, about 20 minutes.

  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  3. Over the baking sheet, fill the potato ricer with ice cream. Press the ice cream through the potato ricer so the ice cream forms “spaghetti”-like noodle piles.

  4. Freeze until firm, at least 45 minutes. Put a serving plate in the refrigerator to chill.

  5. Transfer the “spaghetti” to the chilled serving plate.

  6. Roll brownie bites into “meatballs”.

  7. Carefully spoon over the strawberry sundae topping (to mimic marinara sauce) and top with the brownie bite “meatballs”.

  8. Grate white chocolate over the top (to mimic Parmesan cheese).
