The Best Black Bean Burgers
These black bean burgers are easy to prepare, flavorful, and delicious. The black beans are combined with cornmeal, salsa, and spices, to create a substantial meatless patty.
- 2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, rinsed and drained
- ¼ cup cup of cornmeal
- ½ cup all purpose flour
- ½ cup mild salsa
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- Hamburger buns
- Lettuce (optional)
- Tomato (optional)
- Avocado (optional)
Place beans in a food processor and process until fairly smooth (leave some pieces of beans intact)
Add cornmeal, flour, salsa, garlic, and cumin, and process until ingredients are combined.
Line a plate or sheet with parchment paper. Spoon mixture into six large balls. Refrigerate for at least two hours.
Coat a grill, a pan or a griddle lightly with oil, and heat. Place the patties on the cooking surface, and cook 4-5 minutes per side-until browned and heated through.
Serve on buns with lettuce and tomato (and avocado if you choose) or in lettuce wraps!
